2006 ITI Summer Sessions

Wow. What a summer. We have yet to finish unpacking and all the summer conferences materials but we had to take a moment to post this message. The 2006 ITI Summer Session participants were amazing!
The ITI Facilitation Team was honored to have had the opportunity to work with both the High School Session and the Middle School Session participants. They battled bugs, heat, humidity, and other obstacles but still managed to work hard and play hard.
A huge thank you to all the adults who helped recruit the 2006 participants. With all due respect to participants who have attended in previous years, we do not recall a group as focused and talented as this year's.
Our biggest "thank you" goes to the participants. It is hard to imagine a group in excess of a hundred participants doing a better job of respecting one another, working together and playing together in a more cooperative way.
We look forward to learning about all the great accomplishments that will take place as action plans are implemented throughout Indiana. Thanks again to everyone for a tremendous summer.

From your not so secret admirers,
The ITI Facilitation Team

ITI Alumni

Calling all ITI Past Participants! In 2008, Indiana Teen Institute will celebrate its 25th year. Did you know there are Tens of Thousands of past ITI participants and facilitators? We are forming a team to begin planning for an Alumni event to occur sometime in the summer of 2008. If you have the time and inclination to assist, let us know!

We are also beginning the arduous process of compiling contact information so that we may send out announcements to past attendees to keep them in the loop as anniversary details begin to emerge.

Did you attend during the formative years at DePauw University with folks such as Marilyn Basset, Walt Aldorisio and Phyllis Lewis? Perhaps you are more familiar with the period the program was under the direction of Brian Lucas and Angela Sanders (Lupton)? Or, maybe your involvement was more recent and you recall being on the campus of Vincennes University with Mark and Julianne. For many of us there was overlap and Brian Sappenfield always seemed to be around (he has remained involved since the late 80's).

How can you help? If you know folks who are past ITI participants, direct them to the alumni page on our website:
ITI Alumni And/or have them send us an email with their contact information: ITIAlumni@aol.com And/or have them sign up for the ITI FUNdamentals E-letter and select the ITI Alumni events interest category. Finally, if you are looking to get in touch with an ITI friend, check the ITI Guestbook on the Indiana Teen Institute. This is where folks may post optional contact information.

We have heard from many alumni since the website was launched in 2002. We look forward to hearing from many more in the months ahead!

ITI Adventure - Indiana Teen Institute

For nearly seven years we have been asked: "Is there a difference between ITI Adventure and Indiana Teen Institute?" The definitive answer is: "sort of."

Nearly fifty percent of ITI's programs are customized programs for corporate and other "adult" audiences. Years ago it was difficult for some non-youth organizations to overcome the "teen" obstacle found right smack in the middle of our name. Thus, ITI Adventure was born.

Indiana Teen Institute continues its more than 20 year tradition of offering quality, summer conferences and other programs designed to develop youth leaders to promote safer and healthier Hoosier communities. Partnering with agencies such as ITPC, Indiana Teen Institute remains focused on youth and the adults who work with youth. A large percentage of the ITI Team prefers to develop and facilitate these programs, the cornerstone being the residential, summer conferences. Julianne M. Stewart is the Project Director for the Indiana Teen Institute program.

In 2006, ITI Adventure will begin its seventh year of developing custom, experiential programs to equip leaders and build teams. Mark R. Kaser is the Program Director. ITI Adventure has worked with groups with fewer than five participants and groups with more than 500 participants. We have worked with corporate clients, such as United Technologies Carrier, higher education institutions such as the University of Notre Dame and high school faculties such as Presque Isle High School in northern Maine.

Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so may be the subtleties of a name change. Regardless, the ITI team looks forward to a long future of equipping leaders and building teams.
